Over the past two months, Wusum Gallery and Katara Art Center have had the pleasure of hosting Qatari artist Amna AlBaker (b. 1996) in a summer residency at Katara Art Center.
Her practice moves fluidly between writing, painting, textiles, and visual research—often weaving together personal memory with collective histories. During this time, her studio has become a space of layered experiments: textiles, words, painted surfaces, and fragments of research coming together in dialogue.
As the residency concludes, Wusum Gallery and Katara Art Center present an Open Studio Exhibition, which brings together works developed over July and August. Situated between finished, unfinished, and in progress, the works reflect Amna’s exploration of memory, identity, and collective histories through material experimentation.
